Multislice CT, which uses a larger number of detectors than single helical CT, has enabled CT colonography(CTC)with high spatial resolution. Recently, in the United States, a large multi-center trial(ACRIN 6664 : National CTC Trial)indicated that the accuracy of CT colonography in detection of colorectal polyps almost equals that of endoscopy. For this reason,CTC is widely used in screening of colorectal cancer in Europe and the United States.

On the other hand, in Japan, the mortality rate from colorectal cancer is increasing every year, with females having the highest rate. This CTC for screening of colorectal cancer has been noticed in Japan. Recently, fecal tagging, electric cleansing and computer-aided detection have been developed and improve patient compliance to CTC.
