NBI：(Narrow Band Imaging) Optical Enhanced Endoscopic Imaging

要旨　2006年5月，NBIを搭載した次世代内視鏡システムとしてEVIS LUCERA SPECTRUMを発表した．NBIは粘膜表層の微細血管構築像のコントラストを観察光の分光特性を最適化設計することにより向上させる光学的画像強調機能である．したがって，信号処理や画像処理による従来の画像強調とは，そのコンセプトにおいて大きく異なる．本論文では，NBIの原理，および特徴を，信号処理による画像強調との比較を交えながら解説する．

　EVIS LUCERA SPECTRUM, the next generation system equipped with NBI, was introduced in May, 2006. NBI offers a high contrast image of blood vessels by using spectrally optimized illumination. Therefore NBI is really different from conventional techniques such as those that use signal or image processing function. In this paper, the concept of NBI is described. The appearance of endoscopic findings on NBI is also explained.
