デジタル時代の医学文献管理ソフトの誤解―EndNoteかMendeleyか？

Misconception about the reference management software in a digital era：what is the best? EndNote or Mendeley

論文執筆の有無を問わず，医学の道を歩む限り，医学情報（文献）の収集，整理は必須であり，年を重ねるにつれその量は膨大となる。最近は電子媒体が多くなり，机の上に倒れそうなくらいにコピーが堆く積まれている光景は少なくなった。しかし紙媒体でも同様であるが，いざ論文を探そうとしてもなかなか出てこないこともしばしば経験する。私の周りにも英語論文を頻繁に投稿している優秀な医師がいるが，普段の文献整理はフォルダーごとにフルテキストPDF（以後，PDF）を整理し，論文執筆時に文献管理ソフトを使用している。そこで今回，管理ソフトへの誤解を解き，古くからの定番ソフトEndNoteと，最近話題になっている無料のMendeleyの違いについて概説し，これから使い始める若い研究者の一助になることを期待したい。ただし，ほかにも頻用されているZoteroやRefWorksについて筆者はまったく知識を持ち合わせていないことをお断りしておく。

Many researchers have the wrong image about the reference management software, as only when it is necessary to insert properly formatted citations into a paper and create a bibliography. However, you can quickly import records and PDFs from online databases and add your own keywords and abstracts written in Japanese. Because it easily helps you store, organize, and retrieve a great deal of information, it is essential for researcher’s daily life. If so, what is the best? EndNote or Mendeley? Any citation tool has advantages and disadvantages. Fortunately, both have basic function for reference management. You can choose it by your own needs and preferences.
