　本稿では，人間を対象とした研究を行なうにあたっての倫理綱領の発展を促した代表的な国際的事項を概観する。そのことによって看護研究を大さな社会歴史上の文脈の中にとらえ，さらにインフォームド・コンセントを含めてアメリカの看護界が経験していることを紹介する。それから導き出される論旨が日本の状況に適応可能かどうかを評価するために，いくつかの論点をあげたい。（訳：片田範子）

　This paper presents a brief history of major international events that led to the development of ethics codes for research with human subjects. It places nursing research within this larger sociohistorical context and details recent American nursing experience with research ethics including informed consent. To evaluate these comments for application to the Japanese situation, it raises some questions for discussion.
