  • Look Inside

The qualitative path of inquiry to build nursing knowledge is a fast developing phenomenon in the 2lst century, since there is a growing desire among health professionals to understand human experiences. It is significant in that it focuses on the research participants' own voice regarding the meaning of lived experiences of health and quality of life. Research using qualitative methods, as can be gleaned from the explanations here, is rigorous if conducted adhering to the processes of the methods (for further detailed information on all of the methods discussed here, see Parse, 1996, 2001). All readers are invited to launch nursing research projects using nursing methods to study human experiences of health and quality of life, to fortify disciplinary knowledge that guides living the art of nursing for the betterment of humankind.
