I．はじめに

　鼻副鼻腔手術において鼻腔内にタンポンガーゼを挿入することは広く一般に行われているが，患者の呼吸困難の訴えは多いにもかかわらずその呼吸障害についての検討は意外と少ない。したがって今回私どもは鼻腔タンポン挿入時の呼吸状態について，血液ガス分析を中心に検討し若干の考察を加えて報告する。

　Gas quantity was examined in blood of the patients received nasal surgery followed by packing of the nose. The gas values were examined before and after the packing was removed. It was found that during the obstruction the PaO₂ values and oxygen saturation of the blood gas were diminished, but the PaCO₂ values remained normal. We considered that this phenomenon is caused by nasothoracic areflexia and increase of respiratory resistance, and emphasized that the early removal of packing is better for respiration.
