I．はじめに
急性限局性脳炎は，主に，幼児において，なんらかの感染後か，または，まつたく突然に，めまい・失調性歩行・言語障害などの脳幹症状，ないしは小脳症状を呈する疾患である。予後は，比較的良好で自然治癒傾向が強いとされているが，呼吸麻痺あるいは循環不全を伴う場合には不良である。今回われわれは，11歳男子で，浮動感・嘔吐・右片麻痺および複視を主訴として来院し，神経耳科学的検査などの結果，急性限局性脳炎と診断し，予後がきわめて良好で入院3ヵ月後に治癒，退院した1例を経験したのでこの経過観察中行なつた各種検査のうち初診時と退院時の神経耳科学的検査成績を中心に述べ，さらに本疾患にたいする文献的考察を加えて報告する。
Acute localized encephalitis is disease that has a tendency to effect children from the age of 1-13.The affection may be sequential to other infectious diseases or it may occur spontaneously with such Symptoms as vertigo, disturbances of speech and walking that are characteristic of brain stem or cerebellar disturbances.
In most cases the prognosis is quite favorable ; recovery may be seen after ten days or few months of illness.
The authors report a case of an acute localized encephalitis with review of literature.
