　Ⅰ．まえがき

　Epulisとは臨床上局所解剖学的に歯肉部に発生した腫瘍の名称であり，日常しばしば見られる疾患であるにも拘らず，その本態については未だ見解の一致しない所も多い。我々は最近遭遇したEpulisの数例につき，その発生原因，予後及び分類につき調査検討する機会を得たので，その成績を報告する。

　Epulis is a tumor which grows in the gums, but it has not been too well known. Six cases of epulis experienced by the authors were clinically and pathlogically compared to each other; following conclusions were reached:

　There are two types of epulis namely, fibromatous and giant cellular. The fibromatous type is characteristically a benign tumor, but the giant cellular type invades bony tissue and it is clinically malignant. In the authors' opinion the latter type of epulis should be omitted from the present category and called the giant cell tumor.
