I．はじめに

　脳腫瘍を組織学的にみると，他の臓器の腫瘍に比べ網内系細胞反応に乏しいが，今までに報告されたヒト脳腫瘍の解析では，Schifferら^16）（1974）の200例のgliomaで50％にリンパ球の浸潤がみられたという報告を最高に，いくつかの報告がみられる^14）．DiLorenzoら（1977）^2）によれば，網内系細胞反応の程度はglioblastomaの予後と相関関係がみられる可能性を示唆している．最近，Morants（1979）^8）は，腫瘍内macrophageの存在に注目し，EAC rosette formation assayを用いて，47例の脳内腫瘍のほとんどすべてにmacrophageの存在を認めているが，やはりmacrophageの浸潤の程度の強いものほど予後は良好という推定をしている．

　そこで，治療という面より考えると，人為的に網内系細胞反応を増強させることにより，腫瘍増殖の抑制が可能と思われる．

Penicillin-free-Picibanil was injected into thebrain ofWistar/Fibiger strain rat to investigate thehistologicalchanges. Its effect on the growth of rat schwannomainoculated in the brain was also examinedhistologically.

Picibanil caused the most prominent but focallympho-reticular cell reaction around the injected site inthe brain24 to 48 hours after injection. The cellsinfiltrating fromthe blood vessels were neutrophils, monocytes,lymphocyte-like cells, histiocyte-like cells and unidentifiedcells. Thislympho-reticular cell reaction gradually subsided inthenext 4 to 5 days.
