はじめに

　左右の大脳半球機能に差があることは，利き手や失語をはじめとしてよく知られた事実である^1）。また，左右の大脳半球に解剖学的な差があることも，肉眼的な所見，脳血管撮影，CTなどを通して知られ，それらと機能的な差異の対比も行なわれている^2）。

　脳血管障害（CVDと略）の病変は，剖検所見からみると，驚くほど，左右同頻度に起こっている。しかし，臨床を加味して検討すると，失語症以外にも，かなりの問題について，左右別に検討する必要があることがわかる。以下，次の5点について，臨床と病理の面から検討を加えた。対象は，浴風会病院，東京都養育院付属病院，および京都大学老年科の症例で，すべて，剖検またはCTによって診断が確定されたもののみである^3）。

Abstract

Clinical and pathological studies were performed on the laterality of cerebrovascular diseases with special reference to the nervous function. The patients studied were of the Yokufukai Geriatric Hospital, Tokyo Metropolitan Geriatric Hospital, and Kyoto University Hospital. Diagnosis was confirmed on all subjects with autopsy or com-puted tomography (CT). On autopsy cases, the brains and the spinal cords were routinely inves-tigated by the conventional neuropathological methods.
