まえがき
中枢神経とhypoglycemiaとは二つの意味で深い関係がある。
1）hypoglycemiaによる中枢神経および未梢神経障害およびその後遺症。
Hypoglycemia had been thought to berarest case in pediatric practice, it has beenincreasingly clear that hypoglycemic stateswere not so infrequent, and the hypoglycemicstates in neonatal period and infancy resultedsevere nervous injury like as in cases of ano-xia.
Recently, rapid advance of carbonhydratemetabolism research has been made,ancl theknowledge about it has been enlarged andchanged.
Authors reviewed the hypoglycemic syn-drome related to the nervous disorders bythese new concepts, and commented on somecurrent topics about the hypoglycemia.
1) Many reports about hypoglycemia whichwere unable to increase epinephrine secretion(Broberger) suggested that the nervoussystem disorders would be primary on thegenesis of infantile idiopathic hypoglycemia.
2) 1-leucine had the effect to produce EEGabnormality of patients with epilepsy, andthe leucine toxicity which was proved bydietotherapy for maple syrup urine diseasesuggested the possibility that insulin releasein patients of leucine-hypoglycemia mecha-nism may pass through nervous vagus.
3) Symptomatic hypoglycemia, which wasclosely related to toxemia of pregnancy-placental insufficiency-, and diabetic mother,has the signs and symptoms very muchresembled to that which has been calledceredral irritation or intracranial hemorrhage.When the symptoms be looked over, neonataldeath or severe nervous sequelae (mentaldeficiency, cerebral palsy and epilepsy)should come after.
4) Rare hypoglycamic neuropathy.were commented.
