ヒトで行われてきた小脳電気刺激，小脳磁気刺激について簡単にまとめた。電気刺激でも磁気刺激でも同様に以下のような効果が得られた。小脳と上肢運動野との連絡を見るために，運動野磁気刺激で誘発される筋電図の大きさを指標として検討した。小脳刺激後ISI＝5-7msで，対側の大脳運動野に抑制効果が現れた。小脳が対側の運動野に影響して，同側の上下肢の運動を調節しているという生理所見と一致した。患者の分析の結果から，この抑制効果は，小脳皮質を刺激して，結果として歯状核―視床―運動野の系を抑制したものと考えられた。正常者では，少し早いタイミング（ISI＝4ms）で，ごく弱い運動野の促通も小脳刺激により得られることも述べた。この効果は，上小脳脚刺激によるものかもしれない。

In humans, functional connection between the cerebellum and primary motor cortex was studied with transcranial magnetic and electrical stimulation (TMS or TES) methods. Electromyographic (EMG) responses were recorder from hand muscles after TMS over the contralateral motor cortex. Responses elicited by the motor cortical stimulation alone (control responses) were compared with those to motor cortical stimulation preceded by magnetic or electrical cerebellar stimulation (conditioned responses) by various interstimulus intervals (ISIs).
