　Ureaplasma urealyticumはMycoplasmaに近縁のもので，細菌ではなくprotozoaに分類すべきともいわれる^1）。泌尿器科領域では，男子不妊症^2），非淋菌性尿道炎^3）（nongonococcal urethritis，以下NGUと略称），前立腺炎などとの関連が疑われており，性交により伝播するので性病の一つともみなされている^4）。今回われわれは尿を検体とした場合に，この菌がどの位の頻度で検出されるかを検討したので，その結果を報告する。

Detection of Ureaplasma urealyticum from urethritis or prostatitis patients was studied. Ureaplasma was detected in 4 patients (10%) out of 39 urethritis cases and 5 cases (15%) of 33 prostatitis cases. Among those positive cases, however, there were no patients in whom Ureaplasma was suspected to be the pathogen, because all those cases had mixed infections with other organism or showed no sign of infectious inflammation in the urine.
