　緒言

　Ludwig's anginaは1836年にLudwig^1）により最初に記載された顎下部の蜂窩織炎である。しばしば急性の経過をとり，生命を脅かす予後不良の疾患である。Ludwig's anginaを引き起こすさまざまな要因が考えられるが，歯髄炎や口腔内の炎症などが報告されている。その他糖尿病などのさまざまな病態での本症の発生が認められる。われわれは本症と思われる1剖検例を経験したので報告する。

A 54-year-old man presented with hoarseness and throat pain and died of acute respirtory failure. Autopsy findings revealed that wide spread gangrenous cellulitis involved the cervical and mediastinal soft tissue and submucosal tissue of tongue, pharynx, larynx, esophagus and stomach. Pathogenic bacteria was not identified, however, histological and ultrastractural findings showed various kinds of bacteria, such as rods and cocci, in the center of the foci of cellulitis.
