　5歳女児が右眼の視力低下で受診した。右眼に虹彩後癒着，硝子体混濁，周辺部の網脈絡膜萎縮，網膜血管白鞘化があり，原因不明のぶどう膜炎の瘢痕期と診断した。2年後に左眼に桐沢型ぶどう膜炎が発症した。アシクロビルとプレドニゾロンの全身投与で鎮静化した。15歳のとき，左眼にぶどう膜炎が再発した。硝子体切除術，輪状締結術，アシクロビルの硝子体灌流を行った。硝子体液は，polymerase　chain reaction （PCR）法で単純ヘルペスウイルスDNAが陽性であった。17歳のとき左眼が再燃し，18歳のとき右眼虹彩炎が生じたが，いずれも薬物投与で改善した。この2回の再発時に前房水からヘルペスウイルスDNAが検出された。19歳の現在，炎症は鎮静化し，右0.03，左1.2の矯正視力を維持している。

A 5-year-old girl presented with visual loss in her right eye. The right eye showed posterior synechia, vitreousopacity, retinochoroidal atrophy in the peripheral fundus, and sheathing of retinal vessels. We diagnosed her with cicatricial stage of idiopathic uveitis. Acute retinal necrosis developed in her left eye 2 years later. It subsided following systemic acyclovir and prednisolone. Uveitis recurred in her left eye at the age of 15 years. The affected eye was successfully treated by vitrectomy, scleral encircling, and intravitreal perfusion of acyclovir. Herpes simplex virus DNA was detected in thevitreous specimen processed by polymerase chain reaction. Uveitis recurred in the left eye at age 17 and iritis in the right at age 18. Both episodes subsided following medications. During the two episodes, herpes simplex virus DNA was isolatedfrom the aqueous. At age 19, the uveitis has subsided with the corrected visual acuity of 0.03 right and 1.2 left.
