外直筋の組織学的な変化が本態と考えられるretraction syndromeの1症例について報告した。
症例：21歳，男性。左眼の著明な外転および内転障害が認められ，内転時の眼球後退および瞼裂狭小が認められた。
筋電図所見：左眼外直筋には内転および外転時のいずれにもelectrical activityは認められなかった。
電顕所見：左眼外直筋には正常な筋組織は全く見られず，collagen fiberを主体とした線羅組織に置き換わっていた。
A 21-year-old male manifested atypical features of retraction syndrome (Duane). The clinical find-ings were characterized by impaired abduction and adduction of the left eye, retraction of the left eye during attempted adduction and blepharophinosis during adduction. Electromyographically, there was no electrical activity in the left lateral rectus muscle during abduction or adduction.
Histological findings of the left lateral rectusmuscle showed marked fibrosis and absence of normal retractile structure.
