本症はDoyne （1889）が眼球打撲後の網膜脈絡膜変化として始めて記載し，次でPlange （1891）がStreifenförmige Pigmentbildung, Knapp（1892）がDark angioid streaksと表現して独立疾患としたものである。
わが国では主として網膜色素線条症，英米ではAngioid streaksの病名で報告され，その成因に就て種々論議されていたが，Groenblad （1929）（1932）が皮膚科Strandbergとの協力により，次でMarchesani-Wirz （1931）もこれと別個に弾力線維性仮性黄色腫（Darier 1896）との合併を指摘して以来，本症が全身弾力性物質の変性を基調とする系統疾患であり，眼底に於ける色素線条は脈絡膜弾力膜の変性亀裂により出現するものとして一般に理解され，その後Böck（1938），Ha-gedoorn （1939），仁田等（昭31）の剖検によつてその見解の妥当なことが確認されるに至つたものである。
Two cases of the Groenblad-Strandberg Syndrome accompanied with dwarfism were pre-sented. The patients were a 73 year old, 135cm tall female and a 59 year old, 148cm tall male. Their physical maturity was approximately equivalent to that of 13 years of age and 15 years of age respectively.
It was suspected that disfunction in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland as an etio-logy for the dwarfism might be also regarded as a causal factor for the Groenblad-Strand-berg Syndrome.
No efficacy was obtained by the usual symptomatic treatment on these cases.
