白内障は最近種々の薬物を用いて内科的に治療される頻度が増してきた。之を逆に云えば白内障を有する個体は内科的にも異常があり，この異常を治す事により白内障が共に好転する事を意味するものと解せられる。
かかる観点よりして種々の方向から白内障にみられる全身合併症を検討するのもあながち無意味ではないであろう。自分は昭和28年2月より33年9月に亘る6年間にみられた36歳より88歳に至る353例の白内障について，全身合併症を症候名を中心として調べたのでここに報告御叱正を乞う。
The systemic symptoms observed in 353 cases of cataract were investigated. The mark-ed sensory, motor, urinary, hemodinamic, digestive, and water metabolic disturbances were observed in these cases.
About 80% of the patient with those symptoms belong to the vital hyperfunction type and the rest (20%) to the hypofunction type. Guidance of nutrition and nonspecific ZUI-SHOCHIRYO relieved the systemic and ocular symptoms in these patients.
On the other hand, most of 31 cases of cataract observed between June and September, showed the beriberilike symptoms and corneal complications.
