　流行性角結膜炎（以下EKCと略す）の結膜上皮細胞の変化については，すでにいくつかの報告があるが，何れもVirusの侵襲による直接変化と間接変化とを区別していないために，本すじの変化があいまいにされている状態である。

　最近Adenovirus 8型がEKCの病原体であることが略々確実となつたが，本Virus感染細胞の変化については1，2の簡単な記載が^1）2）あるのみで詳細なる報告がない。又EKCの結膜上皮細胞の変化を，新しいVirus学的知識を以て整理した報告も見当らない。

In order to study the changes of the conjunctival epitheliar cells in epidemic keratocon-junctivitis, adenovirus type 8 was inoculated into the tissue culture. The cellular changes appeared in the tissue culture coincided with those of .the conjunctival epithelial cells of epi-demic keratoconjunctivitis.

The changes which occurred mainly in the nucleus were classified in Stage 1, 2, 3 and 4, the Stage 3 and 4 being further divided into Type A, B, and C.

The early change was the formation of vacuoles in the nucleus.
