緒言

　弱視，斜視の神経眼科学的異常を一言で表現すれば，視機能の感覚運動異常ということになる。すなわち，視感覚系と眼球運動系が表裏一体となつて異常を形成する。この両者の関係には，そのいずれかの一方から弱視，斜視を形成する主因が始まつていることが多い。

　弱視，斜視の神経生理学的研究，特に電気生理学的に脳の異常ととりくんだのは私の師であるBurian^1）であろう。彼はすでに20余年前に弱視のEEGの研究をしており，その後現在にいたるまで，神経生理学的な方法による研究を続けられている。この点がBurianの系統をくむ斜視学と他学派との相違であり，このような神経生理を主流にする先生に20年前にめぐりあつたことは，私にとつて大きな幸運であつた。

For serial investigations on neuro-ophthal-mologic concepts in amblyopia and strabismus, analytical studies were conducted by means of visual evoked response (VER), the pharmaco-logical test using amobarbital, pursuit move-ment EOG, electroencephalography (EEG), the detection of muscle anomalies and the evaluation of orthoptic effect. The integration of these analytical data gave an importantinformation to the etiological detection in the visuo-motor system including the sensory input system, the central integration system and the motor output system.
