I．緒言

　アルカリ腐触による眼障害が，酸に較べて予後の重篤なことは，臨床上しばしば経験されることである。

　この理由として，アルカリは組織蛋白と結合してdepoを形成しこれより徐々にアルカリが遊離されて隣接組織を破壊し，腐蝕作用が進行するためというのが通説のようである。

Experiments were conducted in rabbits to stu-dy the effect of chemically burned corneal tis-sue upon its surroundings when implanted in healthy cornea. Initial burn was effected thro-ugh surface application of hydrochloric acid or caustic soda upon rabbit cornea. A piece of in-jured corneal stroma was removed 1, 2, 5, 10 or 30 days following the procedure and was transplanted within the corneal stroma of the host animal. Follow-up studies were conducted by means of biomicroscopic and histological examinations. It was concluded that :
