要旨　酸分泌およびその背景としての心理的側面をMMPI，MASを応用して胃潰瘍の経過を十二指腸潰瘍の経過と比較のうえで明らかにした．その結果非再発性胃潰瘍では酸分泌，殊にMAOが治療によって低下するのに対して再発性胃潰瘍では変化せず，この群のMMPI，MASは対照群と比較して異常値を示すものが多くみられることを明らかにした．

　A study of the process of gastric ulcer was conducted particularly in comparison to that of duodenal ulcer. Authors evaluated the gastric acid secretion and psychological aspects by making use of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and the Manifest Anxiety State (MAS).

　Results obtained were as follows : In non-recurrent gastric ulcer, acid secretion, especially maximal acid output, decreased according to its healing, whereas they remained unchanged in recurrent gastric ulcer. Moreover, MMPI and MAS in recurrent gastric ulcer showed abnormal figures in many cases when compared with the control group.
