Grandular border between antral and fundic gland is not only the junction of two different gastric mucosae but also the place contributing pathogenesis of various gastric lesions, and furthermore its localization may change even under the physiological condition (e.g. aging). Therefore, it is extremely important to improve its recognizing method to have the high agreement in tissue level. Here we discussed our results concerning how to recognize the glandular border. We feel that if we follow an aging change of the border in the same person or classify the factors affecting its localization by using more accurate method, we’ll be able to clarify the relationship between the glandular border and the background gastric mucosa as well as pathogenesis of the various gastric lesions.
