要旨　症例・対照研究の手法で解析した結果，難治性胃潰瘍の危険因子としては，タバコ喫煙や自覚的ストレスの認知が，防御因子としては飲酒が検出され，タバコ喫煙と飲酒は易治性胃潰瘍とも共通した要因であった．自覚的ストレスの認知のみが難治性胃潰瘍に特徴的な危険要因であった．しかし，今回の検討は少数例を対象とした解析をもとにしており，研究方法の問題の改善も含めて今後更に検討するべきと考える．

　A case-control study of intractable gastric ulcer was conducted concerning various factors that are supposed to affect the development of this disease. A total of 15 male intractable gastric ulcer patients were compared with 50 ulcer-free males (controls) who were diagnosed endoscopically from August 1 to September 30, 1992. Current smoking significantly increased the risk for intractable gastric ulcer (relative risk (R.R.)=13.31). Stress also significantly elevated the risk (R.R.=4.43). Frequent intake of alcoholic beverages notably decreased the risk (R.R.=0.18). Further study is warranted as the present study is disadvantaged by the low number of samples involved.
