要旨　“治療内視鏡を施行するにたる内視鏡医”には治療内視鏡技術だけでなく，治療内視鏡遂行のための各ステップを全うできる能力が求められる．すなわち，内視鏡技量とともに，全身状態や合併疾患の把握，治療対象疾患の正確な診断，適正な内視鏡治療の適応判断やinformed consent，周術期や術後経過管理能力等が必要となる．また，“治療内視鏡を施行するにたる内視鏡医”には，相応の技術の習得や研修，資格が社会的に強く要求されており，その大前提として医師としての倫理性，社会性，遵法性が求められている．このため“治療内視鏡を施行するにたる内視鏡医”の育成にはこれまでも増して社会的に認知しうるトレーニングシステムやプログラムが重要となっている．

　Endoscopic techniques are essential for the performance of therapeutic endoscopy, but other knowledge and skills are also needed to carry it out effectively. Abilities of precise diagnosis, adequate decision making concerning treatment, appropriate informed consent and peri-operative management are all necessary for therapeutic endoscopy. Furthermore, ethics, sociality and compliance are socially demanded if therapeutic endoscopists are to be qualified as eligible. Therefore, socially acceptable training/education programs and systems are required for endoscopists to obtain and preserve their eligibility.
