骨の老化

Aging and Bio-motor function. Skeletal aging.

　骨の老化は，石灰化した骨基質の老化である。石灰化は骨の形成と強度維持に必須であるが，カルシウムバランスが負に傾くと，カルシウムの恒常性のため貯蔵したカルシウムが放出される結果，骨硬度は低下する。骨基質の質と量の維持は，リモデリングによって保証されており，破骨細胞，骨芽細胞，骨細胞間のネットワーク制御が破綻すると，リモデリング機構が破綻し骨強度が損なわれる結果となる。生体内エネルギー代謝や循環機能も骨代謝と密接な関係にある。

　Skeletal aging means aging of calcified bone matrix. Although calcification is an essential part of bone formation and its strength, in case of calcium deficiency, calcium is mobilized from bone at the expense of skeletal integrity. The quality as well as quantity of bone matrix is maintained through remodeling activity collaboratively performed by osteoclasts, osteoblasts and osteocytes, and remodeling disorder results in compromised bone strength. Energy homeostasis and vascular system are also closely linked with bone metabolism.
