The Professional Growth of Anesthesiologists in the Era of Physician Work-Style Reform：Reconsidering Professional Identity and Creating Environments that Support Development

はじめに

　医師の働き方改革が進むなか，麻酔科医の成長と専門性をいかに維持し発展させるかは重要な課題である。業務の効率化や分業化は不可避である一方で，麻酔科医の役割が手術麻酔に矮小化され，専門的判断力や職業的アイデンティティが見えにくくなっている現状もある。麻酔科医は本来，周術期医療を通じて患者の全体像を俯瞰的にとらえ，医療安全を担う中核的存在である。周術期センターや術後集中治療における関与を含め，麻酔科医が専門的判断を発揮すべき場面を意図的に残すことが重要である。研修医が麻酔科医を志す魅力ある環境を生み出し，次世代の麻酔科医育成につながる鍵を模索していきたい。

　As physician work-style reforms advance, sustaining and further developing the professional growth and expertise of anesthesiologists has become an increasingly important challenge. Improvements in efficiency and expanded task-sharing are inevitable, yet there is concern that the role of anesthesiologists may be reduced to the provision of intraoperative anesthesia alone, rendering their advanced clinical judgment and professional identity less visible. Anesthesiologists are inherently specialists in comprehensive perioperative care who assess patients holistically and serve as central contributors to patient safety. It is therefore essential to intentionally preserve opportunities in which anesthesiologists can exercise their professional judgment, particularly through leadership roles in perioperative care and active involvement in postoperative intensive care management. Such a strategic approach not only safeguards clinical quality and patient safety but also fosters an environment in which trainees can envision meaningful professional development as anesthesiologists. We seek to establish an environment that both inspires residents to pursue anesthesiology and contributes to cultivating the next generation of anesthesiologists.
