We treated a 51-year-old male whose severe cancer pain was alleviated after the administration of nerve blocks. He had been transferred a to palliative care department and then underwent CT-guided nerve blocks. About 2 months after the nerve blocks, his pain had eased and he was discharged home. With the introduction of appropriate social resources, his elderly parents were able to provide end-of-lie care for him at home. This experience demonstrates that the uses of appropriate nerve blocks, opioid analgesics, and social resources not only contribute to alleviating patients’ pain;they can also help alleviate the pain of a patient’s family as a whole.
