要旨
麻酔科医の進言を契機に,妊産婦向けサプリメントの注意事項が改訂され,正しい知識の普及に寄与した1事例を報告する。DHA(docosahexaenoic acid)サプリメントと脊髄幹麻酔の安全性に関して,十分なエビデンスはいまだ乏しい。周術期におけるサプリメントの影響に関する医学的根拠の構築が引き続き求められる。
We report a case in which an anesthesiologist played a crucial role in enhancing the safety labeling of a supplement containing docosahexaenoic acid(DHA)that is marketed to pregnant women in Japan. Neuraxial anesthesia was avoided for the cesarean section performed for this patient, a 20s-years-old, a primiparous Japanese woman. General anesthesia was chosen due to the potential bleeding risk posed by the DHA supplement. This patient’s case underscores the importance of addressing the perioperative use of supplements by pregnant women and the associated risks of these supplements during anesthesia planning. Ongoing education and a stronger scientific foundation are necessary to ensure the safe use of supplements during pregnancy and the perioperative period.
