COVID-19 patients admitted to the ICU were managed with combination of high-flow nasal cannula, and awake prone positioning for at least 12 hours per day, and permissive hypoxemia with a target Spo2 of 85 to 93%. This combination of respiratory management, improved Pao2/Fio2 and respiratory rate significantly compared to ICU admission alone, and may reduce the rate of intubation without worsening prognosis.
