In the late 2000s, there was a growing worldwide awareness of the need to review old-fashioned pilot training, and the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO), International Air Transport Association(IATA), and others involved in pilot training around the world joined forces to study and develop new training for modern pilots. In the 2010’s, a new pilot licensing and training system called Competency-based Training and Assessment(CBTA)was introduced worldwide. This article provides the introduction of competencs in training and the non-technical skills that are elements of the competence, and tips for their application to industries and occupations other than aviation.
