Discussion of How to Deal with Severe Extremity Trauma for Young Plastic Surgeons

はじめに

　若手形成外科医にとって重度四肢外傷の治療にかかわるハードルは高く，私自身も興味はあったがなかなか手を出せない分野であった。その理由としては，四肢の軟部組織再建に関する知識のみならず，骨再建のストラテジーを整形外科医と共有する必要があることや，経験に加えて柔軟さや的確な判断が必要となるタイミングが多いことが挙げられる。若手形成外科医として私が重度四肢外傷に携わるようになったきっかけと，携わるために身に付けるべきスキル，および若手形成外科医へのメッセージを述べたい。

　It can be difficult for young plastic surgeons to get involved in the treatment of patients with severe extremity trauma. One of the reasons for this is the need to share not only knowledge of soft tissue reconstruction of the extremity but also bone reconstruction strategies with orthopedic surgeons, which often requires flexibility and good judgment in addition to experience. For young plastic surgeons, we explain how we came to be involved in the treatment of severe extremity trauma cases and the skills we need to acquire, and we provide a message to young plastic surgeons.
