光免疫療法の特徴と放射線免疫療法との違い

Characteristics of photoimmunotherapy and differences from radioimmunotherapy

光免疫療法（photoimmuno therapy：PIT）は，米国国立衛生研究所（NIH）の小林久隆博士らにより発見・開発された，近赤外光と光反応性色素IRDye700Dx（以下，IR700）を結合させた抗体を用いる新しいがん治療法である。放射線免疫療法（radioimmuno therapy：RIT）と異なり，標的細胞膜表面に特異的に光反応性薬剤が結合して細胞傷害を引き起こし，光が当たらない部位や細胞膜に薬剤が結合していない細胞には傷害を引き起こさないため，正常組織が傷害されないという特徴をもつ。また，PITの大きな特徴の一つに，がん免疫の活性化が挙げられる。本稿ではPITの特徴を概説しRITとの違いについて述べる。

Photoimmunotherapy（PIT）, discovered and developed by Dr. Hisataka Kobayashi and his colleagues at the National Institutes of Health（NIH）in the United States, is a new type of cancer treatment that uses antibody and photoreactive dye, IRDye700Dx（IR700）conjugate（Ab-IR700）. Unlike radioimmunotherapy（RIT）, PIT is characterized by the fact that the light-reactive agent does not cause damage to cells that are not exposed to light or to cells without Ab-IR700 binding. Another important feature of PIT is the activation of cancer immunity. In this article, I will outline the features of PIT and discuss the differences between PIT and RIT.
