【Purpose】 The purpose of this study is to clarify the feelings of women who have experienced delivery with husband present toward midwife's involvement with their families.

【Methods】 A qualitative descriptive research design with a semi-structured interview was employed. The study participants were five women who had experienced delivery with husband present five months to one year ago. The interviews with the participants were recorded and transcribed verbatim. The topics considered to represent women's feelings toward midwife's involvement with their families were extracted, coded, categorized and, then, qualitatively analyzed.

【Results】 After analysis, 105 codes, 48 subcodes, 19 categories, and five large categories were extracted. The study participants 【felt delightful in that family's satisfaction had increased】 as well as their own satisfaction by midwife's involvement with the families. They also 【realized that midwife's involvement had been in line with their own wishes】 because the midwives played a role as an advocate for the women. And they 【felt secure about that the midwives had understood them and the families】 because the midwives captured information on them and the families and gave consideration to their anxiety. On the other hand, they conceived negative feelings, for example, they 【felt that they had not be able to convey their wishes to the midwives】 even if they felt as if midwife's involvement was not in line with their wishes. In addition, it was made clear that the participants 【placed emphasis on midwife's impression and the delivery outcome】 although they had various feelings toward midwife's involvement with the families.

【Conclusions】 Women's feelings toward midwife's involvement with their birth families after experiencing delivery with husband present were clarified. The study findings suggest that it is important for midwives who support delivery with husband present to respect family's feelings and women's will in involving with the families, based on the understanding that midwife's impression and the delivery outcome could change women's feelings toward midwife's involvement with the families.
