The aims of the study were to develop a personal health management and monitoring evaluation scale for nursing students and to assess its reliability and validity. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 1,056 nursing students who responded to 121 items using a 5-point Likert scale.

The results of factor analysis (principal factor method with a promax rotation) extracted a factor solution of 7 factors and 30 items. The 7 factors were labeled as follows: “autonomous ability of schooling attitude,” “healthy ability of interpersonal relationships,” “healthy ability of thinking,” “healthy ability of diet,” “coping capacity,” “physical mindfulness,” and “preventive action ability.” The Cronbach's α-coefficient for the 30 items overall was .914, with each factor being between .705 and .875. G-P analysis, I-T analysis, and criterion-related validity were all investigated, and reliability and validity were confirmed.

This scale is user-friendly and can be used as a health management indicator through repeated use and evaluation. The next step will be to improve the scale so that it can also be used for nonnursing students and assist in improving personal health management skills among youth.
