Abstract

The study purpose is to survey nurse interest and recognition for logistics support activity at the time of disaster, and clarify problematic factors for disaster relief nurse registration. We surveyed the research items by distributing or mailing the questionnaire to nurses with over 3 years of experience who work for the nursing association registered hospitals with over 100 beds through representatives of nurse departments. The survey content asked the questions such as attribution, disaster nursing, disaster relief nurse, and registration. We had the responses from 1,676 nurses(53%). 93.5% was for females and 6.4% was for males. Among those nurses, nurses who experienced a disaster nursing training program were 25.8%,nurses who experienced a disaster were 14.6%,and nurses who experienced a disaster nursing support were 4.7%. For the registration situation for disaster relief nurse, the registrants were 2.0% and nurses who have intention to register were 14.7%. Although those nurses did not have much disaster experience or support experience at the time of disaster, there were many nurses who were interested in disaster nursing. For the registration of disaster relief nurse, many nurses felt lack of knowledge and power of execution. The registration desire was related to sex, years of experience, and experience of training program. The registration facilitation needs more involvement to induce a nurse's motivation such as increasing training programs.
