The purpose of this study was to clarify the actual nursing diagnoses, nursing interventions and outcomes for diabetes patients. Data were collected by a researcher from nursing records of 50 diabetes patients. The researcher extracted labels of nursing diagnoses, defining characteristics, related factors, nursing interventions, outcomes and demographic data of the patients from the records. As a result,“Ineffective Therapeutic Regimen Management”or“Deficient Knowledge”was used for the diabetes patients. Furthermore, the selection of nursing diagnoses was related with the duration of having diabetes, the experience of education and the regimen. The results also demonstrated the difficulties in selecting the nursing diagnoses and describing the terms, and the possibility about the deficient of the psychosocial perspective when nurses determine nursing diagnoses. We have responsibilities to determine the relevant nursing diagnoses and to offer the quality nursing interventions, therefore, there is a necessity to explore a system of knowledge on nursing diagnoses, nursing intervention and outcomes.
