This study examined the clinical usefulness of the Assessment of Positive Occupation 15 (APO-15) as a tool for intervention in psychiatric occupational therapy for a patient with schizophrenia during long-term hospitalization. The patient's status was assessed using the APO-15 as an intervention tool. Based on the patient's strengths according to the assessment results, the intervention was designed to further increase the patient's participation in occupations that promote well-being. As a result, the patient not only actively participated in occupational therapy, but also interacted with others, which contributed to the promotion of well-being. Therefore, the APO-15 may be useful as a screening tool to promote the well-being for patients with schizophrenia during long-term hospitalization.
