In order to examine the reliability and validity of the Japanese version of the Child Occupational Self Assessment (COS A), we implemented the Japanese version of COS A for 356 children in a regular school class. We examined the internal consistency based on Cronbach's a coefficient and the test-retest reliability. Furthermore, based on an exploratory factor analysis, we examined the construct validity. Based on the exploratory factor analysis using occupational competence scores, it was found that the Japanese version of COS A had four factor structures: "challenging occupations", "motivated occupations", "daily life tasks", and "expected tasks". It is believed that these factor structures included in the Japanese version of COSA are related to the classifications of occupations. In addition, the Japanese version of COSA was confirmed to have a high level of internal consistency and sufficient test-retest retesting reliability. It is therefore believed that the Japanese version of COSA has high reliability and construct validity.
