We are born with the sole body. Through that body, we judge our own condition, recognize other objects and realize our own desire. Unexpected disease and accidents may cause dissociation of mind and body, and may destroy the relationship between an individual and one's daily life. In occupational therapy, the recovery of the lost relationship between the self and the body, and between the self and other objects, begins with a confirmation of the body through activities in daily life. Occupational therapy reconstructs the person's life from the neuropsychology level, by revising the body schema and the brain map, and by reinforcing and constructing a neural network. This process can be called "Communication between the self and the body," or "Communication between the self and life". Occupational therapy facilitates this communication process.
