要旨：この研究は，精神科病院における作業療法において回復過程を意識した取り組みを，①回復過程を意識した作業療法プログラムに至った歴史的変遷，②回復過程に応じた具体的な活動内容，③回復過程を意識した病棟編成について報告することである．そして，これら病院全体で患者の回復過程を意識した精神障害者への取り組みは，入院患者の在院期間を減少させ，外来患者の人数を増加させるという効果を生んだ．このことは，精神科病院で患者の回復過程に沿ったリハビリテーションシステムを構築することが，精神障害を有する患者に対し，社会復帰を促進させるのに有効な方法の一つであることを示唆している．

　The purpose of this paper is to explain OT (occupational therapy) programs' applied recovery process of patients with mental disease in hospital. We reported on the OT program from the viewpoint of the history of OT, OT activities, and the hospital ward formation. From the start of the OT programs in the hospital, period of entering hospital as inpatients was shorter and outpatients increased in the hospital. These results suggest that rehabilitation systems within OT programs applied to the patient recovery process effect social life for patients with mental disease.
