 The purpose of this study is to describe the basis for selection of sub-items of Inventory Scale for Mood and Sense of Fatigue (SMSF), assess the subjective experience of patients with schizophrenia and investigate the factor structure of SMSF. The participants of this study were 327 patients with schizophrenia. As a result of the factor analysis, 13 sub-items of SMSF (physical conditions, tension/anxiety, depression/loss of self-confidence, irritation/agitation, volition/vitality, confusion/perplexity, impatience, easily fatigued, interpersonal fatigue, brain/thought fatigue, physical fatigue, feeling of boredom, feeling of being healthy) were found to be composed of three factors: Mood states (Factor1), Sense of fatigue (Factor2), Sense of recovery (Factor3).
