We report an 8-year-old boy with coordination disorder following acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) by influenza. He had poor proximal stability, poor arm movement, poor control and low self-esteem. He entered our occupational therapy program to gain both control of his movements and confidence. Our programs to improve his gross motor skills included dribbling a basketball and badminton. The results of our intervention indicated that both his performance and self-esteem were improved. Occupational sports therapy may be effective for improving coordination disorder in patients with ANE.
