　欧米でのSEPS 749肢および日本でのSEPS 798肢を検討した．欧米ではCEAP分類C5およびC6症例に対するSEPSは77％を占め，潰瘍治癒率は89％，潰瘍再発率は11％であった．一方，日本ではC5およびC6症例に対するSEPSは16％，C4は38％で，潰瘍症例に対するSEPSは欧米と比べ低率であった．潰瘍治癒率は85.7％（春田ら）の報告があり，欧米の89％と比べて遜色ない成績であった．合併症に関しても今のところ重篤なものはなく，SEPSは安全に施行可能と思われた．潰瘍治癒および潰瘍再発防止に対するSEPSの役割は大きいと思われたが，有効性に関してはランダム化比較試験が必要である．

Results of SEPS in 749 limbs among Western countries and 798 limbs in Japan were reviewed. In Western countries, 77% of limbs had venous ulceration (C5 and C6). Ulcer healing rate was 89% and ulcer recurrence rate 11%. On the other hand, only 16% of limbs had venous ulceration in Japan, although lipodermatosclerosis (C4) affected 38% of limbs. Smaller number of limbs had venous ulceration compared with Western countries. Ulcer healing rate was 85.7% due to Haruta et al. The rate was equal to the results in Western countries. In this review, the SEPS procedures were performed without significant complications.
