　Vessel sealing system LigaSure^TMは，結紮・閉鎖処理が必要なほとんどの血管やリンパ管などの脈管，およびそれら脈管を含む間膜，靭帯，結合組織などの組織束のシール・切離が可能な装置である．血管壁内のコラーゲンおよびエラスチンを融合・一体化することによって血流を完全に遮断する．従来の結紮・止血器具が節約でき，しかも異物を体内に残さない，周辺組織への熱損傷も最小限に抑えるなどの高い安全性も有している．確実なシール力に加えて，使用方法の簡便さ，シールに要する時間の短さから手術手技の簡素化と手術時間の短縮が可能であり，開腹・開胸手術のみならず内視鏡下手術においても今後のさらなる普及が期待される．

The vessel sealing system LigaSure^TM is a surgical device which can seal and divide most vessels and tissue bundles such as ligaments and connecting tissues that are needed to be ligated during surgical procedures. It melts and fuses collagen and elastin within the vessel walls to completely block blood flow. It can reduce the usage of conventional devices for ligation and hemostasis, and has excellent safety features such as leaving no foreign materials in the patient's body and minimal thermal damage to adjacent tissues.
