【Objective】Information on postoperative return-to-work is necessary to support the balance between cancer treatment and work. Since there have been no reports on return-to-work after robotic surgery for rectal cancer, we conducted the study. 【Methods】This is a secondary analysis of a multi-institutional prospective observational study. Sixty patients who were employed at diagnosis and who underwent minimally invasive surgery for rectal cancer were divided into the robotic group(35 patients) and the laparoscopic group(25 patients), and their status of postoperative return-to-work was examined. 【Results】The time to return-to-work after surgery was 1.0 month in the robotic group and 1.3 months in the laparoscopic group, while the time was 1.0 month in the robotic group and 2.0 months in the laparoscopic group for patients with Ra/Rb/P tumors. The percentage of working patients at 6 months after surgery was 88% in the robotic group and 70% in the laparoscopic group. 【Conclusion】Robotic surgery for rectal cancer may contribute to early return-to-work, and further study is needed.
