We report our experience with laparoscopic splenopexy for torsion of a wandering spleen using polyglycolic acid(PGA) felt. To treat this condition, we developed a novel technique that fixes the spleen by tucking the PGA felt around the inferior pole of the spleen to the left side of the abdominal wall. PGA is an artificial material that is absorbed in the human body, so there is no risk of infection from tissue-derived biomaterial. Furthermore, PGA causes firm adhesions that are favorable for fixation of the spleen. Since this procedure is safer and simpler than the widely used retroperitoneal pouch procedure, it should be considered as an option in case of laparoscopic splenopexy for a wandering spleen.
