 Purpose : The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of ultrasound guided rectus sheath block after single-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Materials and Methods : Data for 36 patients were used in the final analysis. Analgesia usage in 28 patients who had a rectus sheath block after single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy(RSB-SPLC group) was compared with that for 8 patients who had a single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy alone(SPLC group). Results : The number of times for analgesic use was significantly fewer in the RSB-SPLC group than in the SPLC group(1.4 versus 3.5 ; P = 0.024). The duration of analgesic use was also significantly shorter in the RSB-SPLC group (0.8 versus 2.2 ; P=0.002). Conclusion : Single-port laparoscopic surgery using ultrasound guided rectus sheath block reduces postoperative pain.
