Superior mesenteric artery(SMA)syndrome is a rare clinical condition characterized by compression of the horizontal portion of the duodenum against the aorta by the SMA, resulting in chronic, intermittent, or acute duodenal obstruction. We report a case of SMA syndrome in a 44 year old patient with mental retardation. We performed laparoscopic side-to-side duodenojejunostomy using an endoscopic GIA stapler. She was discharged without complications. She was seen 6 months after operation and she was completely symptom free. A laparoscopic duodenojejunostomy is a definitive and minimally invasive surgical technique for treating SMA syndrome.
