　急性脳傷害において，β受容体が保護的あるいは脳傷害増悪に働くかについては議論がある。今回取り上げられた二つの論文は，動物実験において異なった急性脳傷害モデルを作成し，β₂受容体が急性脳傷害を悪化させる可能性と，β₂受容体遮断薬が脳保護的に作用する可能性について示唆している。
